I need to put metal eyelets into a Coleman Classic green polyester awning to locate it on the three little stick-up spigots on the top front of my frame tent. I'd thought of putting a 2" or so circular patch on each side of the awning before cutting the eyelet hole through all three. The only patches/adhesives I can find seem to be for vinyl, nylon or canvas - which should I be using so as not to melt my polyester? Thanks

I'd use Mc Nett tenacious tape. Its clear, and sticks perfectly to synthetic tent material . Its specifically for tent flysheet repairs so ideal for this job.
I'm doing the very same to my Quechua Tarp to fit on the relum canaria 4, i was going to stitch a strip of canvas along both sides for strength, never thought of Tenacious Tape, it will be a damn sight easier
