An Outwell is probably one of the best made quality tents on the market. It is almost impossible to put a lifespan on a tent but it should last you for many years to come. The question is how much is it going to cost you and what brand new tent can you get for the same money.

A tent is an important purchase and you must be happy with it, or it will nag at the back of your mind, but this could be the bargain of a lifetime but only you can make that decision.

Thats an awful lot of money for a secondhand tent. maybe a bargain if it was used once only , but not for a 2 year old used 5 times . How long was it used for each of the 5 times ? has it been to France in very hot sun?
I think I read that expected lifespan is about 3 -4 months of continous exposure to weather .

If hes used it for 5-10 weeks it could be halfway through its expected lifespan already .has it been put up at home again to dry off in the garden and left up for a few days , all these things will affect the lifespan of the fabric.

personally I wouldn't pay more than half the price it would cost new, after 2 years use even with the footprint and carpet included.

Brand new one £600 here

649 at yeomans

£618 here

Dont forget if you use go outdoors price match you get a further 10% off so in fact you could be looking at £540 for a brand new one minus footprint and carpet obviously id get scouring the net to see what you can find on offer and then price match it at Go if possible

That's way too much for a used tent .......don't buy it , go for brand new unless they take a sizeable chunk off that asking price !

I aim to pay between 1/3 amd 1/2 of the original selling price when I buy second hand, depending on age and condition.

Personally I think that is way too much money - I would be expecting to pay around £300.

£430 is a significant amount less than £540 (if that deal is still there) plus the carpet (£80ish?) and footprint (£30ish?). Total new about £650 at least.

You just have to decide if it's worth it to you. Vermonts go for pretty good money on ebay so it's doubtful that you'd get one for £300. Maybe research completed items on there to compare, but at the end of the day it comes down to what you want to pay, not what we would pay lol

Edited to add - I don't think that Go sell the Vermont so you wouldn't get the £540 price, make that £600 minimum new
