Hi,

New to UKCS but loving it already. Been a camper for many years and am now considering a new tent, after our dreadful Jamet Roma 6 tunnel let us down yet again. (Long story, great size tent, exactly what we wanted then, leaked like sieve every single time used!!)

We have gone from the early days in a simple ridge tent, to a second hand but fabulous and much loved, canvas frame tent (4 berth), to the disasterous aforementioned Jamet.

There are four of us, but our son is almost 17, unlikley to want to camp with us again, but has a pup tent if he does! (So three, really..duh!)

We were thinking of the Vango Tigris 400, for our needs. Do you have any advice on size, living area height etc pl? We really dont want to make another Jamet mistake, and are on a fairly limited budget.

Thanks so much in advance.

Sez

We've got a Vango Tigris 400 and also the Vango premium extension.

Normally it's myself, my wife and our 8 year old and the size is fine for that - but it can be a squeeze if our daughter wants to take her friend with her.

Bedroom size is good. Height is good throughout the tent.
Build quality is average but no major problems.

We purchased the tent first and then the extension later. If I was doing it again I would buy a tent one size bigger from the outset. Maybe the Tigris or Nevis 600?

Hope that helps

Hi Sez

We have the Tigris 400 and have been delighted with it but there are only two of us. I think I would be tempted to go for the 600 for a family.

The 400 is really easy to put up and the canopy over the side door is great when it's raining. I also find it useful for cooking as can set up far enough away from the tent but sit underneath it if it's drizzly.

I've looked into the extension but for the price looks a simpler set-up just to go for the 600

Thanks all for advice & tips.

at Ritchie rich: Will tell OH, thanks for offer. Possibly may still hold out for a Vango tho. Much appreciated.
