Hi im looking to buy a tent next year. We have two small children and im hoping to get a 5 or 6 berth. Ive read some info on pitch sizes and was wondering if I brought a six birth tent would it be accepted on most sites? Also how does the car parking work,is this incorpororated into pitch sizes? Two tents im considering are the Vango Maritsa 500 or the outwell montana 6.

Thanks for your help.

Tents over 5m wide or those shaped in an X or Y tend to cause the most problems. Some sites won't accept you at all, others will charge you extra and some will charge you for 2 pithces.

There will always be a site somewhere that will accept very large tents but you may find your choice of site more limited, so it is something to bare in meind when tent shopping.

We have the Khyam Ontario 8 which measures 7.5m x 3.7m and we have never had a problem.

Regarding the car, usually thi shas to fit onto your pitch along with everything else you might want to use (pup tent, utility tent etc...)
Always best to check with each site what their policy is regarding cars or extras.

the tent to most watch out for are domes with loads of pods coming off them, tunnel tents aren't usually a problem as they aren't so wide

I have a Kampa Croyde 6 (similar size to Outwell Montana) and have never had a problem, I have only ever paid for a normal pitch

Hi we have a Outwell vermont L and although we have only ever been charged for one pitch, there are some sites that won't allow us as being too big and we always need to check.

However that being said on closer inspection, the type of site that won't have us are types we wouldn't want to go to...i.e you are on top of your neighbours with no space. So bear that in mind. All to their own depends what you want??? space over the abilty to go anywhere.

You will need to check about cars and where you park. Mostly they are on your pitch
