Just purchased the outwell michigan L for next season and as advised had a practicce run on our local field, to avoid been the entertainment for the next campsite we visit. after watching the outwell pitching video, we attempted to pitch .

Everything going to plan until we tried to locate the fixing pins into the porch legs. The video clearly shows two pins located on one ring together for the mid section and the porch, but on our tent there is only one pin for the main living /bedroom area. There is another pin located approximitly 15cm in from the wall of the porch. But in no way could we get the porh legs into it. The pin that is is on the porch wall, is this for the extension ? We think this may be a manufacturing error. Anyone else come across this.

Advice and ides would be most welcome.

You have the 2010 model Michigan and the Outwell video is the same as our 2009 model. This 2009 is a real pain to get pitched correctly, if you get it wrong the inner door does not zip up. Outwell changed it for the 2010 season so that the two poles do not go onto the one ring and are as you describe two separate pins on two separate rings. I have looked at this years tent and think it is a great improvement over ours.
As to the poles being difficult to locate in the pins our main poles are quite difficult to erect but once you have the knack of doing it, its not that bad. I would suggest trying to pitch it again and check that the porch pole is not trapping the tent fabric making the pole difficult to locate.
Great tent by the way and well worth getting an extension for next year.

Thanks for that, all your comments endorsed by supplier Kingsmuir, who was very helpfull . He said he would make a note of my comments and not to worry if i dont get time to re-pitch before spring, if i still have problems then he would arrange to have it picked up and tested.

Hope to have another go this weekend, weather permitting.

Kind regards
