I think someone was looking for one of these recently so this is just a heads up. They are getting quite difficult to find - anyway 'Nearly New Tents' on ebay have this Vango Premium Extension in 'SMOKE' with is the 09' 'blue' colour. It will fit the Vango Icarus 500, the Orchys, the Tigris, and a variety of other tents not necessarily Vango, just check the dimensions first.

Hi folks, thinking of buying a premium extention for my vango 500. Does it have to fit on the front or can it fit the side entrance? does anyone recommend the new 2010 model over the premium with side windows. Many thanks.PJ-67

The Vango Premium Extension fits on the end of the tent, I believe some people have managed to get it onto the side but having used the Extension and become familiar with it I have no idea how they would. I have a pic of my Premium Extension in my Gallery (look on the left for the link)

I'm not sure what 2010 model you refer to.

I'll just clarify the difference between a porch and a canopy. A porch has a zip down door and the canopy doesn't - it's open at the front and is just a shelter. The Premium Extension was brought out a couple of years ago as a porch for both the Orchy range and the Tigris range. At the same time they had a steel poled canopy which was intended for the side of a tunnel tent. I believe they intended these to be universal which is why they didn't put the name Orchy or Tigris in the name of the product.

One thing to bear in mind, the colours slightly change every year and they clash with each other. In 09' it was 'smoke' for the blue and 'Sage' for the green. In '10 it was 'Bluebell' for the blue and 'Laurel/Meadow for the green. For 2011 it's 'True Navy' for the blue and 'Moss' for the green. Being cynical, I think this is Vango's way of getting you to buy extensions and windbreaks from the same season. They clash quite a bit if  you get them from different seasons.
