We went to the Outdoor Leisure show at the NEC yesterday, we hadn't planned on it but a family member was unable to go so we got his tickets.
We were a bit disappointed at first, lots of cool funky bits and pieces dotted about the place but a tiny selection of big tents, go outdoors had a good offer on the zenobia 6 289.99 for tent, porch, carpet and footprint. but we wanted something a little bigger really...
so while we were looking at some of the lights at the yeomans stand we saw a little sign saying we have family tents in hall 3. some directions and a bloody great walk later we got to hall 3.
so, outwell, gelert, sprayway, vango all on display.
after drooling over a couple of outwells we were looking at the vango infinity 800 which is very nice (apart from price) we wandered into the vango salonga 600 (350 including free carpet down from 530 +80), spotted a sign saying display tent for sale. asked the sales assistant and 15% off for display model.
there was a family umming and ahhing so 5 seconds later we said yep we'll take it. come back at 5 please guys.
5 o'clock we got there it was still up. our main surprise was that when we asked them to take it down they said no, you do it and lent us a hammer.... we weren't expecting that!! we saw the funny side though and took it down. in the bag first time! well happy with it!
Hello there, congrats on your bargain! I don't know anything about the Salonga but I did see one pitched on a camping trip last year. Was a very good size, stood up well to the weather and looked quite nice too
I am about to buy the 600 or 900 but I need to know does the main sleeping area consist of two completely separate pods or can they be unzipped to form one very big one?
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
hiyas, this is my 1st post here so hi to every1 ( & hope its not my last ! :o) ) im sitting waiting ( patiently ) as i type for our Salonga 900 to be delivered sooooooo excited lol. We have a vista 800 but thought we would go for even more comfort so saw the great offer from Go Outdoors & couldn't resist....lets hope we made the right decision. Just started camping & we really enjoyed the vista lets hope this leads to BIGGER & better things . I will post photos as soon as i can as i have found it dificult to find many on the net other than the manufacturers1's.
hiyas, still waiting for tent ...as you can imagine not so patient now tho ! We had 1 missed delivery of a parcel last week & rescheduled for today, said parcel now arrived ...was sooooo excited ... but then let down it was the free salonga carpet ....well least i have something nice & warm to sit on just no tent to sit in . Have contact Go Out & they are 'sorting it' & are very sorry ...blah blah. So again i wait & i promise i will add photos ...when it gets here.
hiyas, Finally got the tent & we pitched it this afternoon to make sure we had all the 'bits'. Took us about 45mins ....but didn't peg the guys just wanted to make sure we had all parts & that there was no major things wrong. I think the colours are better than shown in retail pics...little more muted. Haven't left a score for tent as yet because would want to ' live in it ' to give a true rating for it. Looking forward to our first holiday in it.
