First post, so be gentle with me - I'm looking for a 3 man tent and am thinking about the likes of the Vango Banshee/Spectre/Tempest 300s.
I will be using the tent for field camping, on archaeological digs, and the occasional sporting event. Although there will generally only be me in it, I wanted a 3 man tent for the extra space, as I will be camping with my motorbike, so I'll have biking gear as well to fit in it.
I haven't been camping since I was a kid, and Vango are the only name I really know. Can anyone suggest reliable, newbie-friendly alternatives that can cope with 3 season British weather? I am looking to spend no more than £130.
Thank you in advance!
H

You are right to go for a three-berth tent even as a solo camper - you will definitely appreciate the extra space.
Vango is a reputable mid-market brand. Personally, I would recommend a tent like the Vango Sigma 300 which has been reviewed here on UKCS by eight users.
You will find a searchable tent reviews section here on UKCS and I recommend you enjoy a pleasant hour or two reading about what is available.
Good luck with your research - enjoy your return to camping.
the coleman range of light weight tents are nice,i have the avior x2 which i like alot comes in three man aswell.there is the phact x3 which has a bit more head space.
We really liked our Outwell Arizona L, but that particular one is discontinued, the closest looks like it would probably be something like the Outwell Oakland M.
Outwell are a bit more expensive but have a good reputation. We liked ours because the quality was really good, you could comfortably stand up in it, the design was clever and it was really easy to put up
Good luck

Why not the Vango Kairos 400, so that you have easy up stand-up luxury! After crouching all day on a dig, I would have thought stand-up straight height would be useful.

------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
With a pack size of 60 x 20 x 20cm, maybe the Khyam Biker would be a good option? Easy to pitch (we once had an Igloo, which was a doddle, this is basically the same with a porch, which would be great for your gear). At £100, this is a great price, esp with free carriage!
If you can manage a pack size of 78 x 20 x 20, I'd go for the Khyam Freelander and canopy (tent £127.50 here and canopy £19.99 here), for living area standing room. The sloping front door isn't the easiest to access from inside, but improved if you add a cord pull to the zip. The canopy will solve the problem of getting rain inside (a problem with all sloping front tents). That's a great price at the moment, too, and you wouldn't lose much on them if you decided they didn't suit you.
Most of the frame is pre-attached, on both these models, so they are super-easy and quick to pitch.
