Hi All,

We have a vango maritsa 700, and have seen the new 'enclosed' canopy and dont particularly want this style.

We want to have the Vango Sun Canopy, but can't seem to see if its suitable for the Maritsa 700. It says lots of other Vangos.

Will it fit? dont need it to be completely weatherproof, just fit.

Also, how does it attach to the tent?

cheers

Lee

The Maritsa 700 from the plans would appear to be 200cm high and 320cm wide at the front. The large Vango sun canopy is 220cm high and 310cm wide. However, as there is no pole at the tent end of the canopy these measurements on the canopy are very flexible, with the reduction of height to fit the Maritsa allowing a bit of extra spread on the width. If you want you could compensate throughout by just adding such as 2 extra 5cm split rings on the straps between the poles, thereby making the poles 10cm wider and the top a bit lower.

I believe that the Vango Universal Sun canopies all just guy over the front pole of the tent (the tent end of the canopy is elasticated so guy tight) and then peg down. They don't attach directly to the pole and are designed to have a gap between the tent and canopy for air to escape and to enable you to still use any side windows in the sloping part of a tent. Last year's more tent specific canopies had an extra strap that hooked onto one of the tent poles further back, but I am not sure whether the universal ones do. May be have a look at some of the tent review photos to check.

I hope that helps...

Helen

Hi helen,

Thanks very much for the reply, its very helpful... love the idea about adding the width on to the floor straps, thus reducing height too... might just work.

The only other thing i am worried about is this... with the angle of the front of the tent (door), and the sttep drop off of the canopy material, whether this would create and open sort of triangle hole thing towards the top of the canopy.. which would kinda defeat the object of having the door open during showers.... i appreciate there has to be gaps at the side for air etc, (like you said), but a hole towards the top of the canopy.. not sure.

hope i've explained myself well enough.

Thanks again

Lee

Hi Lee

I think that the sloped front of the Maritsa will take up most of the gap and a lot of the excess at the top is taken up by going over the pole. Have you looked at the review page for the large canopy?:

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/p/Vango-Large-Canopy/691

People have used it on all sorts of tents and attached it in different ways to achieve a good fit. I know the newer versions that are specific to the tent are more popular because they attach to the poles and there is little if any gap now, but the universal style has proven very popular too.

If you buy a canopy at a good price, you could always sell it on if you can't get it work for you. You wouldn't lose much if anything.
