Hi all, i've just purchased the Hi Gear Kalahari 10 for a bargain price of £250 at go outdoors. I stayed in my friends last summer and thought it was a fantastic tent so waited for it to go in the sale and got my own.
Only problem is.......now I have the tent I want the porch but kind of begrudge paying £107 for it when the tent was only £250.
Does anyone know if you can buy the porch elsewhere but cheaper? Or is anybody possibly selling one??
I'm totally new to camping so have to buy everything from scratch and would love to save a few £££££'s.
Thanks in anticipation of your help :-)

I would maybe consider taking the Kalahari 10 back and waiting until next week when the Kalahari 8 will be on offer for £350. It's not much smaller, but you get the porch included as well as the carpet and footprint!
Kalahari 8 has slightly less headroom, maybe a problem if you're tall. We've just got the 10 on the same deal, tent, porch, carpet and footprint for £460, worth the extra £££ for the 10 over the 8 and still a bargain MHO.

If you can manage to go one summer without the porch, wait until September when it will no doubt be half price again.
We got ours for £49 last September, and the tent, carpet and footprint were all reduced by huge amounts. I think the total we paid for the lot was about £350
Thanx for the sound advice guys! I suppose i can manage one summer without it and think i'll hang on until the sale in September.
I did ponder the thought of taking the tent back and waiting for the kalahari 8 to go in the sale but my hubby is 6ft 6 and would struggle slightly i think!
We have been looking around for a porch for our Kalahari 8 and have come across this shop on ebay, porch for £40.
We are going to order one at the end of the month.

Surely a porch thats made specifically for a tent will be a much better fit than one thats not designed for it and would therefore worth paying for

go onto free ads here on uk campsite, someone is selling a kalahari 8, the advert states 'also selling the porch' i think by the way they worded it, they may sell it seperately???
i would say if your pleased with the price you paid for the Kal i would honestly say just go for the porch, i have just sold my kal 10 and porch and it makes a HUGE difference, we set ours up as the kitchen, with a kichen unit each side and gave us loads of storage and still space to strip the kids out of wellies etc if it was raining. Brilliant accessory - go for it!!!
