Hello all!

After a very windy 'Royal Wedding Weekend' in Thetford where our Vango Venture 500 with front extension took quite a battering I am thinking of going for a Norfolk Lake or Bear 6 Lake and maybe front extension, but finding both difficult to find at reasonable prices but am no immediate rush so can wait a little while.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I am wanting a two to three generous tent, which is why I was looking at the two mentioned.

I am thinking of going to the South of France but looking at some of the sites they say maximum length is 7m, as the Norfolk is longer than that maybe the Bear6 is the best option. Anyone had a problem with pitch sizes for a Norfolk Lake?

Many thanks
Carol

Hi Carol,

We have never had a problem with pitch sizes for our Norfy, But I can see the benefits of both.

We use our norfolk lake in this country as we are most likely to be needing the porch, however, as it's discontinued you can now only buy then second hand.

Bear lake is also a lovely tent, and has the benefit of a slightly smaller footprint, but most useful in hotter climes, due to the fact that the canopy is pretty much just there to keep the sun off. Saw a bear lake on preloved yesterday for £350, might be worth checking that one out. It's a very popular tent, and they dont come up for sale very often.

My personal preference is the Norfolk Lake, just for the fact I can cook in the porch.

Both are very sturdy tents, and both  cope with wind and rain without any problems.

Tough Choice...

Thanks for that - went to look on preloved but the Bear lake you saw must have gone! There are a few on ebay, one Norfolk lake too, so I am seeing how it goes.

Thanks again

Carol

Good luck, I'm sure you wont regret it no matter which one you decide to buy.
