Today, after originally thinking about the Icarus 600 dlx, we fell in love with the Vango Samara 600.
However, even though we liked it because it was so much more sturdy, I have this evening read some dodgy things about it. Zips that don't fit or are too tight to move, and the little porch flap not coping with wind and making the tent collapse are some of the things mentioned.
Can anyone share their experience of the Samara? I'm feeling a bit disappointed as we thought we'd found our perfect tent!

I too have purchased the Vango Samara 600, as yet not been away in it, our weather is just awful at the moment!! I too have read the thread about the faulty zip, but that could just have been a bad batch, you really shouldn't let that put you off. No matter what tent you purchase, if there is a fault with it you would return it anyway. We had an issue with a bedroom pod, there were 3 small holes in it, but back it went and another was duly sent in it's place. I have not read any threads about the porch flap?
There are two good reviews of this tent in the tent review section of this website, have you read them?
I hope you don't get put off, it seems a great tent and we can't wait to use ours. I will post a full review when we have had our first camp in, that's if our weather ever lets up!!!!!
I think most manufacturers have had issues at one time or another and we tend to remember the few bad ones that slip through the net.

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
This tent choosing gets more complicated the more you look and research it seems ! We went to Go Outdoor this morning and the Maritsa 600 was calling my name. It is the most practical layout we've seen. Now stuck between samara and maritsa
Why is it you start off with a budget, then you think 'yeah but for a but more we could have this' then again and again.... !

Kampa's ultimate range has 100 denier flysheets which will last potentially double that of the standard 75 denier flysheets used by other makes under UV exposure and is a lot more tear resistant. The quality of the materials and poles and features are certainly top end in this range of tents. Their Endurance range tents have some nice features and materials typical of other manufacturers but are still well made and value for money.
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
