Hi all - total newbie to this forum so please direct me if this is the wrong place to post!

We've broken one of the tension straps on our Vango Tigris 400 DLX. The failure occurred where two straps are stitched together - total failure of the stitching. Rather than get a sewing machine (I think it'd need a special needle), I'm hoping to find a component that secures the two straps together without stitching at all.

Thing is, I have no idea what the thing is called!

What I have in mind is a kind of hinge clip. One of the sides has metal 'teeth' on it so that if you pass the straps through and close the hinge, the teeth lock into the straps and secure them together.

Does anyone have any idea what these things are called? Or another solution to secure two straps together without stitching? Help!
