Tesco are doing the fold up picnic rugs sized 200cm by 150cm for 10th pound.

Also B&M are doing the smaller ones (130 by 110 or something for 3.99.

Don't know if they are of any use as carpets? Anyone tried?

If they fit your tent, I don't see why they wouldn't work. At the end of the day, purpose made tent carpets are there just to give a little extra protection, comfort and warmth. I reckon a picnic rug would do the same job.

I use foil-backed rugs from ALDI in the bedrooms but not in the living area. There are two reasons for this: you would need several to cover the living area floor of many tents, even my modest Minnesota 4, but more importantly I find that they slip very easily which could result in tumbles.

Ahh I see... How much are they Scout?

The ones which I saw are 200cm x 150cm, which would mean 2 for my 10 man tent, but hadn.t thought of slipping etc...

Would velcro not be an option?

They are a "special" that ALDI and, I think, LIDL have once a year. As it happens ALDI's are available from tomorrow. See here. They are £5.99.

I guess you could use some self-adhesive velcro but it's far too much faff for me!

The Tesco one is a great size. The only problem is it's quite light coloured so shows the dirt. I think you might be able to see it in one of my Gallery photos.

Edit, no you can't but it should be on one of the photos I loaded with my tent review!

Having used picnic rugs as carpets for years, i finally invested in a 'proper' carpet for my new tent and the difference is unbelievable! It fitted perfectly, I didn't have to dick about with gaffer tape to secure the picnic rugs into 'one carpet' and it just seemed to repell everything that was spilt on it....and with 2 small kids, that was quite a lot, coke, coffee, milk, porridge.....!!! Am still using picnic rugs for insulation in the bedroom pods, but I'm an official convert to fitted tent carpets lol!

I have not tried it yet as we are not going away until next month.
It is the anti slip mesh that you put under rugs on floors & is £2.49 in B& M i thought at that price even if it does not work i have not lost anything.

My fleeces were under £3 each from Ikea so i brought 3 to try as carpets.
