Mum handed us down a pro action Nevada 8 its been used 4 times according to her, she has sown in her own groundsheets under the sleeping pods, but on Sunday night the seams seemed to leak quite drastically, personally i love the size and ease of putting the tent up, so do i go out and buy are own and start to look around for others of similar size, or bite the bullet and repair the tent, now i am pretty sure i put the thing up right, but the doors didn't seem to touch the ground is this common or did i screw up putting it up ?,
So do i re-waterproof or is some kind sole going to recommend a few tents of equal size and ease of putting up.
cheers Tony

It was nice of your mum to hand you down the tent, such a shame it leaked. The doorways raised could just be you had the tent too tightly put up, we did this the first time...we pulled the poles away and pegged them in then used the tension straps to tighten them causing the edging to be raised from the ground, we realised it doesnt need to be pulled too far out.
The dilemna over your leaking tent, thats a decision your going to have to make, do you enjoy camping and do you see yourself doing it more in the future. If so, then go out and get yourselves a new tent similar to the one you were given only with slight differences, you could tell your mum, you enjoyed it that much, you fancied a new tent that had an extra door, or height, or longer, more/less bedrooms, higher HH, you get the drift.
It must be worth trying some seam sealant. Ideally you would set the tent up in the garden, spray it with a hosepipe, note the leaks and seam seal it. Re-spray and see if you've succeeded.
Of course we haven't all necessarily got a garden. Probably not worth spending a fortune but seam sealant is cheap.
really depends on how much you "love" the tent, there are loads out there 8 berth....gelert horizon 8,sunncamp shadow 800,kampa polzeath 8,...all depends on your budget too..there are loads more,,,do you need an 8 berth? how many of you are camping?...or like alahol says, you could always try seam sealant to repair the one you have.

just me and the OH mostly but sometimes my nephew, i also take 2 kayaks away with us normally plus we have a kayak meeting about 4 times a year so always ideal to have bigger tent to share cost, the OH is going mental on ebay looking for tents now, i can only imagine what the bill is going to be like but at least we have had some absolute sound advice on here so have better idea what to look for instead of being totally blind, looked at one or 2 of the tents you mentioned above zeelees, and also thinking of redoing the waterproofing to keep the tent as spare
