Hi been looking for a steel pole tent for 2 of us and have narrowed it down to Outwell Oakland M or Vango Artemis 400 but cant decide which.

Does anyone have any opinions on either?

Grateful for any help choosing.

thanks

Also is there much difference between Oakland M 2010 and 2011 models?

as much as I love our Oakland xl, The M hasn't got the option to expand later on with extensions etc. From what I recall the Artemis is bigger but then again its a 4 birth.

Both are good tents, I would try to see them both in the flesh before deciding.

The 2010 is not much different from the 2011 other than the new stabiliser system and illuminous piping.

A lot depends on your requirements, price, room wanted, people to sleep etc.You can pick up Oakland M's around £150ish same as artemis, I thing the Artemis is no longer made by Vango but maybe wrong.

Have you considered geting a used one, Lots are only used once and end up on ebay,

Thanks for reply

Its only for 2 of us, short breaks/overnighters.
Wanted small tent quick to pitch and very stable, as quite often go to a very windy site and our Orchy doesnt stand up to the wind very well.

I'd like standing height for me but i'm only 5ft 3.

Have seen Oakland L and liked it.

I had a look round an Oakland at the weekend and thought it was an OK tent

Both the L and M are good tents, another option is the Carolina S, single steel pole and easy to pitch, full height too. The M isn't full height at 170cm the L is 200cm and the carolina S is 190cm.
of the 3 the carolina s will be the easiest/quickest to pitch

The Vango Calisto is the new and improved version of the Artemis, with flymesh on all doors, darkened inner tents, larger windows, higher HH, greater stability given additional pegging at the front.

Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
