Lot of sound points made in the previous posts. Agree with choosing your site and getting to know the neighbours and mentioning if you are going off for the day. Most people who do these holidays are only too pleased to help as you would be to keep an eye an their units be it a tent, caravan of motorhome. We have never had a problem in many years of camping.

Common sense says take your laptops, cameras and any other portable valuables and lock them in your car. Pretty obvious but dont have a sattelite dish if you are one of those people who cant live without tele. Very often its more likely that caravans and motorhomes are more susceptible to theft as its obvious they have more expensive equipment in them.

Agree with the points about not padlocking as it waves a red flag that you may have something of value in the tent. A padlocks no use if they put a stanley knife down the back of the tent. If you are concerned try to choose a pitch thats not too remote. Whilst its nice to be "away from it all" there is no substitute for having friendly neighbours.

Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes

New! Please upload a photo of your tent to the Tent Showcase!

I've stitched in 5km of fine copper wire in a lattice across the entire tent. Its connected to a bank of 25 leisure batteries and when armed gives a shock of 147000v which may well be fatal. Anyone who tries to cut the canvas will be well and truly zapped.
