I am looking for a decent tent which will fit 5 people in, however it has to fit on at 6m x 6m pitch when we go to blue dolphin in august. I keep looking but can't decide which one to go for, the easier to put up the better please and preferably under £200

our tent would fit your requirements, but then so would many more I'm sure lol. It's less than 3mx6m and goes up in one in no time at all. In fact Hubby only needs me for 5 mins and does the rest himself. We paid £185 delivered next day from a different site.
For 5 people, ideally you need to be looking at tents that sleep at least 7 or 8 to give you enough bedroom and living space. The problem is, the more berths the tent has the bigger it is so keeping within 6m x 6m is a toughie!
How about looking at second hand canvas frame tents? The Cabanon Espace 8 is one of the biggest you can buy and comes in at 5.7m x 5m so would fit on the pitch and should give you enough space for 5 people. Have a look on places like eBay, PreLoved, Gumtree and the free ads section on here.
Was thinking the scars 600 my self. Sometimes you find on these sites you might have a little more space than they say.so would not about fitting exact. Buy the tent you want and if a site won't let you on with your size, there are plenty off good sites out therefore

I think OP needs one to fit the site they are going to no good buying one thats too big and then being turned away

That's a very awkward size and likely to cause you problems on other sites that take longer, narrower tents (caravan shaped).
I'd go for something under 5m wide that you can add a porch to when you want to go to a normal site. I'd also get something 2nd hand so you don't lose too much money when you find out you'd rather a different shape.

Now that's made it even more tricky! I didn't realise most camp-sites only allowed smaller tents.. how do larger family's usually resolve this?
Most sites allow a longer tent so the square footage is the same but it fits better on a pitch designed for caravans.
Edit: Your 6x6 pitch is tiny, are you sure that's right?
Edit2: I just looked and found it's a Haven site, looking on Google maps the pitches are small but there are a few that would take longer tents. In summer it's going to be crowded there.
That is a tricky one and the budget does not help, buy something too small that is in budget, and have to buy again later when you realise its too small.
Took a quick look on the blue dolpghin webiste and looks like 6.4mx6.4 m - which is significant, as some tents fall into this range, or thereabouts
If you could afford a Kampa Croyde, it is 6m55 but here is the clever bit, if they complain you are too long, for this trip, or at least a few days, you roll back the front canopy, and it will fit on the pitch, or pictch at a slight angle, as the pitch is quite wide, to allow whole of tent to fit in.

I doubt if you would be allowed a 7m x 3m tent on a 6m x 6m pitch.
What was being suggested is a lot of pitches now are long and thin ie 8m x 5m etc as they can accomadate caravans rather than square. We had a pitch last year that was 14m x 5m designed to take long motor homes

Ok I went to my local tent specialist, Tag Outdoors and ended up going over budget and getting the lichfield sandwood 4 + 2. I'll try and erect in the morning if i have time before work or I won't get a practise run before saturday! I also got the footprint and the carpet!
