I forgot to mention they had a good 5 or 6 montana lakes for sale. Brand new boxed stock. Not my cup of tea but a bargain at 599!

I had been thinking of buying the easy camp boston 300, do you think that they are not the best for quality?  The big windows were appealing to me, had also thought of a vango tigris and ircus 500.  any advice seeing as you have the easy camp already?

The Boston 300 looks a nice tent. My Brother and his family camp in a Boston 500 and my parents a Toronto 400 (an Argos exclusive Boston 400). The big windows is what appealed to us with having children. The overall quality of the tents is very good but the fold down flap on the front door has caused problems on both the 600 and 500. If the groundsheet flap is toggled up and a child, however small, trips on it then either the toggles snap or the groundsheet seam rips.

The Toronto is a much better buy than the 300. Here are some of the upgrades over the standard Boston tents:

  • Reinforced outwell poles, they call them Duratec. It basically means the poles have an outer sheath bonded to them. They are a lot lot stronger than standard and the tent doesn't sway anywhere near as much as the Bostons.
  • Large vents above the side windows (essential to keep condensation under control). Bostons don't have these at all.
  • A traditional zip at the base of the door so no ripping! yay!
  • Outwell easy pegging system. Colour coded plastic pegs, not a coat hangar in sight! These alone would cost £20!
  • The groundsheet is smoother and thicker.
  • It comes with an outwell expanding storage bag, great for packing away in a hurry.
  • The extending door toggles are great, much easier to use than the fixed ones.
  • An Outwell striped colour scheme on the bedroom pods.

The Boston 400 carpet and groundsheet are a perfect fit if you want them.

The Toronto has better standing height than the 300 and the bedroom can be zipped open into one as well. Overall size is only 12" longer and 8" wider than the 300. Packed size is actually smaller thanks to the expanding bag.

I would recommend hunting down a Toronto 400 from argos for 159 as opposed the to Boston 300.

On looking at the Argos site

http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-1428744-10294381?url=http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9275173.htm

There are several in stock in your area. E.g. Motherwell have 2 for collection.

It took me weeks and a good drive to hunt one down in the East Midlands!
