As everyone here says we bought ours because of the lovely huge windows so wouldn't wish to cover them up. The side extension is enough for us and kept us dry when it rains hard, ideal for cooking under and we left the side door open during a torrential thunder storm with no problems. Never camped in what I would call high winds so can't comment on that but it has managed fine in wind so far,
