hi the eldest daughter just got back from the leeds festival after borrowing my three man tent have cleaned it and asked her were all the pegs have gone !!! but it smells really strongly of campfire smoke would it be possible to 'wash it in warm water and a mild soap solution ,would this get rid of the smell and is it cost effective to do thid or is it bin time....thanks

You certainly don't want to wash it in soapy water. It'll harm the waterproofing. Just pitch it in the garden if you've room for a day or so. The smell will go and anyway what's wrong with the lovely smell of campfire smoke. I have it on my camping jacket and it reminds me of the latest trip I've recently come back from.
