We are looking for a new tent this year, bigger than our Vango 500. We have narrowed it down to two, either the Outwell Glendale 5 or Montana 6 deluxe. Does anyone out there have one of these (or both) already and please could we have your opinions on which is best. Go Outdoors have both for sale at £499.99, less 20% in the sale tomorrow. Is that a good price?

I don't own either tent but went to my Go yesterday and to an independent retailer today to look at tent displays. I have to say i much prefered to Glendale tbh, couldn't understand why everybody loves the Montana so much, didn't seem to stand out to me, just another tunnel tent (obviously it is good otherwise it wouldn't get the reviews it does).

I think the front porch bit on the Glendale is lovely, nice and light and big enough to actually use, not just as boot storage either! And both tents were 499 at both stores so with 20% off i would think you have a very good deal. It would also get the thumbs up from me just because we don't like to follow the crowds

Hi, we had dilemma last year and ended up buying the Vango Maritsa 500 which was a disaster.
For us the bedrooms in the Glendale were too light but the layout would have otherwise been perfect and a lot easier to put up than the Maritsa. We did look at the Hawaii Reef but the budget wouldn’t stretch that far.
We have now bought a 2011 Montana 6 – bedrooms are darker than the 2012 deluxe version and I am pretty confident that it will be right for us (2 adults and 2 small children). It's been up in the garden and I put it up with the help of my 5 year old.

Good luck and let us know what you buy.

Both are great tents, my Vote goes to the glendale after seeing one in the flesh last weekend, It was side by side with a delamere 5 and to be honest I prefered the Glendale. much more useable space and no need for extensions etc as built in.

Compared to the Monty DLX its a tough one as the monty has bigger living space, but then you will probably want/need an extension/awning also.

Let us know what you get

Phil
