For the reasons explained in my review (published today) of our current Studland 8 Classic, we're thinking about downsizing to the Filey Classic, but only if it significantly speeds up pitching. The way I see it, it'd be faster because:
1. one less pole to put up
2. sewn-in groundsheet, rather than zip-in
3. bedrooms can be left in the tent
I'm sure the first one is true, can anyone confirm that the latter two are? They account for a fair chunk of time when setting up the Studland.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
We leave our bedrooms in our tent...in the tent spec does it say pitching fly sheet first or as one? If it does (rather than just saying fly sheet first) then you can leave them in.
Also check if the inners are stored in a separate bag - if so it might not fit back in the tent bag if you leave them in?
Hope this helps

we bought the filey 6 classic last week (beautiful) and I was suprised how quick we got it up. Cant remember exactly but well under an hour, and hopefully be quicker second time round. We watched the guy on youtube erect the filey 6 on his own and we used his technique, much quicker and easier than instructions.
As for the bedrooms we took them out,but that is us ,I am sure you could leave them in as they are in the same bag .
Yes the groundsheet is sewn in which I much prefer.
There are 4 of us and I cant believe we had larger tents before, there is plenty of room, plus the vestibule gives you a bit more.
I personally always drop the bedrooms to make sure the flysheet is well dried out above them as this is the area where most condensation occurs. The only time I didnt do it we had a large patch of mould above the pods as I hadnt noticed it was still a bit damp

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
Yeah - with our SunValley, we drop the bedrooms on the day we have to leave, and fold them in half, to give any moisture between the SIG and the bottom of the inner a chance to dry off.
We put the inner back up before taking the tent down, though, which does make it a bit quicker to put up the next time we camp.
