I am looking to buy this tent as a weeekend tent we have the outwell bear lake 6 which we love but it seems like overkill when it is only being used for one night, plus I wouldn't be able to pitch it on my own and it would be lovely if I could just pack everything in the car for a quick get away. Reading reviews on this and it seems great I have been to see one today and it ticks all the boxes so far. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between this years model and last years, I have seen one advertised with carpet and footprint for £200 but it is last years model, which is not a problem but would love to know how much of a difference there is.

Many thanks.

Not much difference - the 2012 has bigger windows and is a few inches wider with low level vents. The enclosed 2012 porch also has more windows in it. We recently bought a Calisto 500 2011 at half the price of the 2012 one! If it suits your needs I would go for last years - you will definately get it cheaper

I've been inside both 2011 and 2012 models with and without enclosed canopies attached. As tonyb21 said the 2012 is wider, larger windows and more lower vents. I bought 2011 model plus footprint, carpet and enclosed canopy from Ebay at a total cost of £220, much cheaper than 2012 model.

As others have said. It's wider with bigger windows and vents. Go for the 2011 model. Get a price from an eBay seller ( cheapest possible new tent ) then fill the form out on go outdoors.
I got the enclosed canopy for the Icarus for £67 from them. Nearly half price.
