Hi,

We have just purchased an outwell vacanza Winnipeg 600 as a family tent. (just me, hubby & a 2 year old, but hopefully more rugrats at some point!) We have never camped, although I camped a lot as a child and as a teenager did a lot of camping through guides and Duke of Edinburgh.

So I have a few questions as never really used a SIG before. They may well be stupid! I'll be very grateful for any advice.
If we use a footprint do I need to peg it down, or will the tent hold it in place?
I know I can use any tarp, I can't find one exactly the right size so if it's bigger can I fold it over? Or should I cut it to size?

Think that's it for now!

Fold it over so it's an inch or two smaller all round (avoids channelling rain 'twixt SIG and footprint), and peg it at each corner so it doesn't end up in the next field whilst you're getting the tent out of its bag

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it

Agree with mike on this one well worth having though a cleaning the underneath of a muddy SIG is no fun

Agree with the above comments. We have various cheapo tarps and even use damp proofing plastic sheeting from a builders merchants. Not only does it keep the sig clean it protects it from any stones you may have missed prior to pitching.
