After having a wonderful time away last week (despite the weather) in our Kampa Filey 6 Classic, it has dawned on me that maybe its a bit much for a 2 nighter. We found somewhere local and when weather is ok I would like to just pop there with the children and set up on my own. After always thinking I had to have the biggest tent,the Kampa is a downsize , and now I think I could go further with a quick set up for 2 nights. So can you recommend a tent for 2 adults and 2 children,need to be able to stand in living area but dont really want to break the budget. Open to ideas

Agree with Arsenaldes. I've just bought an Outwell Nevada M so that I can take my 3 children away by myself. Have a Montan 6 for our main holidays but need something smaller, lighter and quicker for short breaks.

i would recomend the outwell nevarda L i can put mine up solo in under 30min and you can put the kid on the oppisite side to you if you want some quiet time
For the same reasons I wanted a quick to put up tent for myself and my toddler for when we go away just the two of us.
I bought the family size 4 person pop up Quechua Base Seconds Family 4.1 from Decathlon and haven't looked back. I get it fully up from scratch in 7 minutes (pegged), and once you've practised taking it down a few times in the garden, taking it down is also about 7 minutes. If in doubt, get the Decathlon sales person to show you how, it's actually very simple and there are loads of Utube videos showing you how to do it really easily. The new Base Seconds Family 4.1 is currently on a special offer at Decathlon for £99.
It has a standing height lounge and it's supposed to take 4 persons in the single bedroom, but I'd say you'd be a bit cozy with 4 but should be ok with two kids in the 210cm x 240cm bedroom. Due to the sloping shape of the bedroom I don't recommend using camp beds, but it stays warm all night as it's not a full height and therefore warms up easily. You can also buy stick on velcro and stick the large vent shut in the bedroom and above the lounge door and improve the heat retaining qualities for early season and end of season camping.
They also make the wonderfully and deservedly popular Quechua Base Seconds Family 4.2 which has a two person bedroom at each end and a standing height lounge in the middle. This is equally easy to put up and take down, and should not cost more than £200. You see them all over France since it seems to be the touring tent of choice for the French campers.
Additionally you can purchase a bolt-on additional lounge but this can set you back another £200 so you might consider a windbreak and a tarp if you need sheltered outside space to cook and sit in.

Finally, I'd say there is something quite liberating about not having to thread any poles into sleeves and worrying about breaking them. Also this tent packs into a thin round bag which takes up no space at all in the garage, since I simply hang it up on a hook high up on the wall. All in all, I think it's a fast, brilliant, minimum hassle all weather performer.
PS. If there isn't a Decathlon near you, they will ship the tent to you. I hope this helps you with your quest for a fast weekend tent and gives you a further idea on how to get the most of your short breaks.
