Have seen the Coleman Event Shelter ... it's got great reviews .. and I was wondering if anyone has any experience of using it with a Vermont XLP? I was wondering if it would be a good sheltered extension to our tent ....

If anyone has done this, would love to see some photos of the set up!

Haven't got any photo's I'm afraid but when we were away last summer a family opposite had one as an extension to their tent.

They had a big family tent (4 adults + 3 kids in it) and then the shelter on the front. If I remember rightly one of the sides had the event shelter side panel and the other just had a windbreak across it. The front was completely open. It worked really well, they had room for table, chairs a cooker stand and also their whirly gig washing line.

I'm thinking of getting one too. There's a crowd of us going to a family festival and thought it would work well as a central kitchen/sitting area.

I love our tent and the space etc ... but would like a sheltered area for eating outside and a friend recommended this shelter ... but it's not cheap so don't want to go spending money on something that might not work!

We were going to get one of these between us and another family but instead bought a quechua tarp each. Combined they make a lovely big sheltered space and are so versatile in what shape you can put them up in. Plus if we camp seperately we have one each so still take it with us easily.

Need to be a bit careful with the weather conditions with an event shelter - we saw one shredded and squashed in the wind last year. Although I am sure good guying down plays a big part in keeping them on the ground 17

We have a 12' Event Shelter, we use it as a canopy in front of our Sunncamp Prism. It is absolutely marvellous. It has stood up to strong winds and when it rained we were sitting out underneath having a cuppa.

It was also usefull to sit under as a sunshade!!! We used the guy ropes and strong pegs and it did'nt budge. I also had one sidewall which kept all my kitchen equipment dry. It was lovely to cook in the open even when it was raining.

The height of the front of the Prism just matched the height of the Shelter, so kept all the rain off the front of the tent.

I was lucky enough to be given the cover and side poles for one. I just need to buy the centre poles, got my eye on some on Ebay! He has one that he uses often and he loves it! I'm looking forward to getting it up and used, hopefully end of this month. Will be used with Monty 6 so will let you know how it goes and will get piccy's!
