Hi, have received my new Outwell Nevada xl today. Late afternoon, when hubby got home decided to have a go at pitching it. Have watched the You Tube videos, so copied that.
In brief:- pegged out footprint. Got rolled out tent ontop. Pegged back 2 corners, and started lifting from back first. All doors were zipped up.
An hour later, plus one split pole, the tent was up and ready to go!!
Well miffed at splitting a pole, and thought it would be a lot quicker!!
Did see a post on here, explaining how to pitch, but can't find it!!
Any suggestions as to where we were going wrong???

Ok, first thing, open the doors, it allows the air into the tent, much easier. Better still type into youtube "outwell nevada m pitching" and I think its the second film, a fat bloke in a grey T shirt who looks a bit like Gimly the dwarf from Lord of the Rings will show you how to do it, maybe someone will put a link up.
JimCall, if you type into youtube "outwell oakland xl pitching video" and take a look at about the third video down with a younger guy in a grey T shirt you may find this a lot easier than the way you have pitched the Carolina

That "younger" guy is as old as me!
Seriously tho Gary, not sure I like that method - seems to be putting a lot of torque on the poles when they are twisting. I feel there may be more of a chance that the uprights twist and lock with the roof sections?

Its only what we do, we do not say everyone should do it this way, but they should...lol Its really is the easiest and we have never had an issue ever but if you have found your way then thats fine.
Yes the fat old guy in the Nevada video is me and the younger guy is a former staff member.
Yep, at the end of the day its all down to personal preference I suppose, but its good to experiment and try other pitching methods. I promise I will try your method next time Gary !
