Looking to start doing a few day walks with my partner and want a reasonably priced tent to come with us. We are totally new to backpack camping as we usually car camp with a Vango Calisto.

As we are new I would rather not spend masses on a state of the art lightweight tent at first in case we don't like it.

I can pick up a Vango Ark for £65 or a Vango Halo 300 for £140.

Specs are:
Vango Ark 300
Total Weight     4.10kg
Pack Size     59 x ∅17cm
Pitching Time     5 mins
Hydro Head      3000
Has a sewn in groundsheet

Vango Halo 300
Total Weight     4.00kg
Pack Size     44 x ∅17cm
Pitching Time     12 mins
Hydro Head      5000

The Ark is sold as an Adventure tent whilst the other option, a Vango Halo 300 is sold as an expedition tent. Now obviously the Halo is slightly lighter and it packs away a lot smaller but will it make that much of a difference?

Are there any other tents you can suggest or one over the other between these two?

Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes

New! Please upload a photo of your tent to the Tent Showcase!

We have just bought a Coleman Tauri Connect X3 from Outdoor Clearance it is fantastic and takes no time at all to pitch because of the system it uses. And it weighs less than 4kg. Also has a nice roomy bag and tent can be rolled into it rather than having to have a degree in origami to get it back in the bag.

Have a look at this this video to see how easy it is to pitch.
