Please can we have your opinions on the following? We have first refusal on a used Outwell Tenessee 6, it's 2 years old, and been used half a dozen times. It's not in the best of conditions, such as small hole in one mesh door, seam rip on mud valance, one awning pole missing end spike; loose steel poles; small/tiny rust spots in various places; zip in ground sheet smells very musty but there's no sign of mould anywhere; and the pegs are either bent, rusty or missing. On the good side, there's no holes in the flysheet, groundsheets, or windows; all the zips work well, and there doesn't appear to be any missing toggles etc. The current owners have allowed us to borrow it so we have just pitched it in the garden this evening so we can have a further look at it tomorrow.
It was advertised for £350 but in "almost perfect condition", when we made the seller aware of these 'faults', they were kind enough to either suggest we can return it or have a price reduction. We really like the style and design of this tent. Apart from the OH and me, we have a 7 and a 4 year old. We've read the reviews - countless times -and also got the Outwell demonstration video on a continuous loop (or that's how it seems) lol!
Would anyone like to offer an opinion or comments? Thanks for your time.

We have the 5 version of the tent it really is a superb tent! ask the seller what reduction in price he's prepared to take for the faults youv'e pointed out and use the difference to make good the missing pegs etc the awning poles are easy to replace they are standard outwell bitsand are available on Amazon/ebay, when i bought my5 last year it was retailing around the £750/799 mark (i got a better deal than that though!) given the faults youve pointed out try offering £300
Where abouts in Lancs are you?

Thanks for the good advice Sxis! We really like the layout of the 5 too but we couldn't find one at the time although there is one now advertised on 'Preloved' in Wigan at the mo for £550...sooo tempting! Yes, perhaps we will offer £300 as you suggested - that sounds fair.
Do you think the rust spots could be a problem (but we haven't tried cleaning it yet - will do tomorrow). Also are your pole sections loose in places? We tried to pitch it by following the Outwell video - what a laugh! It was very tricky due to the weight of the three poles and the amount of tension in the material when trying to insert the pin into the pole. However, once up we were really impressed with the stability of it, we haven't got it fully pegged out and have only used the 3 guy lines attached to the pole sleeves at the front and back; we live at 330M above sea level on the Western edge of the Pennines so it's always fairly breezy but it's hardly moving!
Its to heavy a tent to pitch in real life like the outwell vids we pitch one bay at atime starting at the rear, the reason i asked where in lancs are you is that i have a full unused set still in the bag of outwell pegs for my my 5 that would match your 6 if your up this way sometime you can have the lot for a tenner

Will make sure we don't use any detergent's cleaning it. Thanks for the offer of the pegs too. We have bought a pack of 20 rock pegs but these would be a good addition so were give it a think.....my hubby is going to visit a customer in the Lakes next month so he can always collect or we have also booked Fisherground campsite, Erksdale end of July so if that's anywhere near you that would be gr8 also.
One other thing we noticed is that there was no repair kit in the bag - is this correct for this tent.

Use code APRIL13 at checkout, to get it for £299.99. There's free carriage, as well.
Wow, thanks for the heads up lidds0! That is very tempting! There's one on display at Go Outdoors in Manchester so we'll go and have a look this afternoon, then I guess it's decision time!

Just an update, we decided to pass on this one, it had quite a lot of rust spots and in different places all over the tent, inside and outside on the windows, but the poles aren't rusty?
We've read somewhere that rust and the weatherproofing of the polyester doesn't mix and that it's also difficult to remove without damaging the material anyway?
£300 or so ain't much of a bargain when you and the youngsters are getting soaking wet in the middle of a campsite at 3am in the morning!
Ah well, onto the next one! The thing is, we're now kinda hooked on the Tennessee 6 or 5 for that matter. We've sold our Coleman after our first outing (it was nice but not really what we wanted) and we managed to get our virtually all money back selling it on ebay, so we have 6 weeks before the next holiday to buy something!
Hi
Thats always the problem with buying used at least you were able to see the faults before you bought it.
Now have you considered the Kampa Croyde 6 super tent for the price and being new you will get a years warranty
