I am on the lookout for a tent for myself, wife and daughter for summer beach type camping but it must be able to withstand a good old downpour and high winds.
Should have the following.....
One large bedroom compartment that is/can split into 2 doubles
Large social area for chilling indoors, kit storage etc with the option to buy a carpet for it and big enough to put a kayak and a couple of surfboards in at night
Large awning/patio area for socialising
Can be a tunnel tent, not really fussed about having side porches/entrances
Sewn in groundsheet
We used to have a Bear Lake 7 which was ideal but as you all know, expensive. Something similar to the BL7 with a budget of about £150-200 for something new but realistically, a second hand one.
Anyone any ideas? I appreciate there are umpteen threads on this but what's another one ;0)
Cheers, Den

Sounds like my Tigris 800XL in its 4-berth config - with bedrooms 2 & 3 removed, you have a massive living / partying / storage area, with loads of windows, 3 doors, optional carpet, the end door can be used with king poles. Main 4 berth bed room (210 x 280 cm)has a dividing screen you can fix into place to turn it into two 210 x 140 cm rooms.
Hi
How long is your kayak is it a K1, K2 or K4 as this will determine how long the tent needs to be to store it in the tent. Prices of used tents are quite low at the moment so I would check out a used Kampa Croyde 6, steel poles gives it extra strength in the wind compared to fibre poled tents, bedrooms at one end so living area is bigger, attached front canopy so you can sit outside under cover and the quality is excellent, check it out in the tent review section

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again

thanks for the reply. The kayaks would be a couple of Perception sit ons but when we go away with our touring yaks (Dagger Charlestons) they stay locked on the car roof.
Will have a look at the Kampa, never heard of the brand before but will check the reviews out.
