Hi ,
We have a Bear Lake 6 and use a Montana 6 open extension.
It works really well for us.
If you check out the reviews on here for the Bear Lake 6 there is someone who uses the Montana 6 fully enclosed awning on their Bear Lake with no problem. They have also added photos.
We have a 2011 Bear Lake which we bought last year second hand, brilliant tent.
The front awnings for this tent prior to the new 2013 are like rocking horse ( do I really need to say it?)
The new 2013 extension has an increased height of 10cm..taking into account the Montana awning we use is already 5 cm too high , plus a bit wider but works, I am not sure about taking the risk and spending £350 plus on a 2013 awning that might be useless. Also this years extension zips on although I do have a suspicion that the zip might also fit the tents prior to 2013.
I am after a BL6 front extension (pre 2013), but have had little success other than dodgy looking options on eBay.
Does anyone know of anywhere that still sticks them, or a suitable alternative?
I heard the Montana 6 is a good option, but I really prefer the polycotton canvas.
Much appreciated
Chris

Try the extensions - they don't need to be perfect Size. I used a Yukon river 6 on an arrow lake and then changed to a Montana lake (colour matched). The second I got adapted - shortened poles by 5 cm each side and had a seam sewed to reduce fabric. Also added strap to it to fit it to tent like the Yukon rover one fitted.
