Hi All
I am looking to buy one of these to serve as a kitchen / dining tent to compliment my 4.2 xl.
Which do you think is the best and why? I'm confused now as I've looked for so long at at so many utility tents but I think I've narrowed it down to these two!

Or, if it's simply a utility you're after, the Cabanon kitchen tent is the bestIMHO: sturdy, well made and with a designated kitchen window (designed for cooking in).

That's great, thanks. So what is the difference between the screendome and the screenhouse other than about £80 and is it worth the extra?
I have to be honest, I thought you were comparing the Screenhouse with the Khyam Day Shelter, which requires threading of poles.I didn't read your post properly, sorry!
The Screendome must be a newcomer (or I haven't been looking, which is probably more like it!), so I've had a nosey and the difference seems to be just that the poles are a bit different: the Screenhouse is a Ridgi-Dome and the Screendome is a Flexidome, which just means the poles are a lighter-weight fibreglass and the joints are a bit less heavy-duty.
The Screenhouse is marginally taller. Both seem to have 4 mesh panel sides and 2 x doors (opposite one another, both of which can be raised on canopy poles - one set included with the Screenhouse, I don't know about the Screendome, but guess it'll be the same, as it states on the Khyam website that the only difference is the poles).
The Screenhouse pack is heavier, but not much different in size to the Flexidome, I see.
If you're not bothered about the optional bedroom inner (which fits into the Screenhouse) then yes, you're right, the Screendome does look a reasonable buy.
For info, we've had a Screenhouse (Ridgi-Dome) and used it as a day room / communal eating area, and now have a Wayfarer (Flexi-Dome) and both are excellent. Both use basically the same pitching system, only the Flexi-Dome is a bit lighter, and possibly easier to manage. Both tents have all poles pre-attached and just click up in a few minutes, no poles to thread so it's easy-peasy, once you know how.
If you're after a new Khyam right now, I suggest you buy at Somerset Camping and use the code UKCAM45 for a further 10% off! They have the Screendome
Thank you so much for the detail of your reply, that was very helpful indeed.
Think you may have sold me on the screenhouse due to the option of an inner tent.
Two further questions though..... Why will the inner not fit the screendome? And will Somerset camping price match as well as offer the 10% off?
I've no idea if the Screendome will accommodate the inner but it's worth giving the people at Khyam a ring to find out, if you fancy that model over the Screenhouse.
I've also no idea if Somerset Camping will price-match, as well as offering a further 10% discount, either (I've no connection with them, other than spotting that deal). I suspect they won't, but you never know!
If you do fancy an inner, just check the roof panel of whichever one you go for has hanging loops, to accommodate it. It hooks up in seconds, and there's also a clip in each of the four corners of the sewn-in-groundsheet, to fasten to rings on the frame (near each of the feet)
We did find this was a brilliant feature, when we used a Screenhouse: we used it as a day room / covered dining area for family hols (those 4 x mesh sides are fab and it's great to be able to simply zip down any of the outside covers to provide some privacy on any particular side, or if it gets a bit blustery)then we just popped the inner in on our last night, which enabled us to take our big tent down and be ready for an early departure the next day.
The bedroom inner is huge, and can easily sleep four people. We had 2 x double Coleman airbeds in ours. In fact, our daughter always used to say she fancied it as her very own bedroom space for the duration of the holiday, as it's like a bedouin tent!
Just make sure you do your first pitch on a calm, non-windy day, until you get the hang of the pole joints. The main thing is to keep the fabric out of the way of the joints during pitching and de-pitching (not difficult, just always bear it in mind). You'll be amazed at how quickly and easily it goes up!

I prefer the Khyam Screenhouse than the Screendome, as I believe the former has better and stronger poles, as reflected on the price difference.
