We are new here and complete beginners to camping.
We are after some help on our new investment and are looking to buy a 3-4 person tent for breaks of a couple of nights to a week (ish).
We also have a dog and in this instance would like a bathtub style groundsheet so he can't escape.
We obviously don't want to spend the earth on on and were looking at spending £100 roughly but would like something we could sit in with chairs if the weather gets a bit wet.
Thank you all in advance and hopefully meet some of you out there soon.
Thanks

Hi welcome to the site. You really need to go to a dealer's display to view the tents actually pitched. Remember if raining you need a tent with plenty of room to move about in. There are two of us and our "small" tent is a five berth, giving plenty of room if we have to stay in because of bad weather. Have a look at Go Outdoors if you have one local they have tents set up and at reasonable prices if you have one of their cards.
Good luck

Hi and welcome! Like Keanonwuk, our small tent is a five berth. Ours is a sunncamp but I know a lot of couples that use this one and are very happy with it: High Gear Rock 5
Having only three poles makes it fairly quick and easy to erect and there's plenty of headroom, even in the sleeping area, which makes life so much easier I think!
As Keanonwuk says, you should be able to see one set up at Go Outdoors.
Hi, I thought this a good topic to add a few words. I camped alone with my dog last weekend at Kingsbury, I have a rock 4 with porch , we stayed totally dry during 10 hrs of torrential rain throughout Saturday night. We had very scary thunder storms most of the night. I can highly recommend the rock 4 as I like plenty of space.I have a very lge 2 layer airbed plus a chair and small table in the bedroom with room to dress without struggling . The living area is more than ample and on Saturday night I brought a lot of my kit in from the porch due to the rain. In the living area I had 2 tables, my large camping chair, 4 crates, dog bowls, 4 large bags, 2 cool boxes and several odds and ends, I still had room to make a brew with my travel kettle and the dog lounged at my feet. I admit to feeling a little apprehensive about camping alone during the very severe weather and I did spend some time with a torch checking for leaks. I woke Sunday morning after a good nights sleep to a dry day and a dry tent.I love this tent and would happily camp for a couple of weeks in it. I would not recommend the rock 4 as a tent for more than 2 people for longer than a weekend. It suits my needs and impressed me last week with its first real weather test. I have posted some pictures of a previous camp at kingsbury. Hope this is helpful .
------------- Sometimes we do get it wrong, but thats o.k. its the only way to figure out how to get it right !

We've recently bought the Vango Arlay 500 from Halfords. £100 in the sale, down from £289.99.
It's a '5 person' tent, but when they say this they mean five people laying next to each other in sleeping bags.
We are 2 adults, 2 small children and a baby and it's an okay size for us for now but once baby is bigger I think would be too small bedroom wise. The living space is very generous though.
It has a sewn in groundsheet and we are very impressed with it do far.
I think it would be a very good size for you with your dog :-)
Hope this helps!
