Best craic ever!
I stand corrected. Well done. That's my wrists well and truly slapped.

I think its one of those things where you are damned if you do and damned if you don't..
To be fair I would also offer help to a guy on his own if he had a big tent and would not be offended if he/she said they could manage fine on their own..
Thats what campers are all about.

Hope you are not put off by the comment regarding the tent "similar" to the Vango Icarus 500..
It would have been helpful if the person gave the actual brand/name of the one that was bad with condensation.
It was a Gelert Atlantis 5, probably not helped by the fact we didn't open the bedroom vent due to feeling we would let the colder air outside in (it had two fixed vents in living area) and having 5 people breathing inside rather than 2 or three makes it worse.
I have only once had an offer to help me erect my tent and that was from a woman. It was starting to rain so I was grateful for the help although when it reached the point of guying I thanked her and prefer to do that myself.
I've only offered help (to pitch) twice....
The first time was to a group of two couples sharing one of those large vis-a-vis Go tents. It was clearly brand new.... as were they!! I did little, physically, other than to show them how to get the flexi poles into the ring and pins... and not to be scared of bending them. The tip to partially open doors and windows to help it fill up with air went down particularly well! :-) I "had" to go back and advise on peg angle, and the fact that it would be a good idea to actually put them more than an inch into the ground... Oh, and to lend them my mallet, as it seemed a tad more practical than their half-ounce one, that probably cost them the equivalent of a half-eaten lettuce leaf... and was about as effective!!
I kind of got the impression I was beginning to grate, by that stage, so I left 'em to it!!
The second offer of help? They politely refused, and subsequently proved more than adept at coping themselves....but they did then need to borrow our bottle opener!!
A little "off topic", as neither of my "targets" were solo campers, but whilst folk continue to be polite, I'm more than happy to offer to help, (and not be offended if my offer is refused) but I sometimes fear it's a fine line between helping and interfering!! I get the impression there's an art to getting that first approach just right, to avoid the illusion of being "Mr Busybody"!!
If I am ever crazy enough (no offence intended to original poster) to go camping on my own with my two boys (2 and 4 yrs) and you see me trying to man handle the tent on my own PLEASE PLEASE come and help me. I will openly welcome the assistance and and may even offer you a beer afterwards!

The real Vango Icarus range are excellent tents and were the best sellers in there group for a few years and are still popular.
I have had the Icarus 500 for a few years and never experienced any condensation issues, just keep it vented as you would with any tent and it is a doddle to erect.
You are doing the right thing and checking out a few that meet your needs good luck searching, its part of the fun..
I was talking to a friend the other about their Icarus and they've never had a problem with it. We never get a problem with our Samara either.
