I separate poles & canvas but keep the ZIG attached on the 5m as I don't want to be faffing about with that every time we pitch it. I will admit I struggle carrying the 5m canvas any distance but putting up is as easy as the 4m.
Soulpad do a poly-cotton 3m that weighs a bit over 10kg for £210 (was £189 in sale last week so would wait for another sale to come up).

Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a bell tent so would be buying blind, so to speak.
All the advice has been extremely helpful.
Will keep an eye on prices and see which size works out best value.

I have both 4m and 5m bell tents, size wise I think you would probably manage with a 4m if you are usually on your own. I'm a 5'3" girly wimp, have arthritis in my lower spine and a collapsed disc in my neck and can pitch either tent single handed, if you master the technique you can do the centre pole lift without really taking any weight at all. Pack weight is beyond me with the 5m but the 4m I can just about manage on my own.

Hope that helps

Hi paper clip,

Please could you tell me the technique you use to lift the pole without a struggle ? I have never been able to manage it alone so far, and feel somewhat inadequate now !

Any tips greatly appreciated !

i,m looking for a weekend tent for two oldies - was looking at birdland 3 but not going to look at bell tents. remember at a festival last year a guy came about 10 mins after us and had his bell tent up in no time. headroom only issue - glass back means no stooping.

Off to do some research.

Have you thought about a 3m bell if your usually on your own.

I have plenty of room, there is room for a camp bed if that's what you prefare.

Can I ask what that storage unit is on the right hand side with the little pull out bags? That would be perfect for what I'm looking for.
