I'm feeling extremely overwhelmed on the tent front.

I had purchased a shamefully cheap Regatta 4 man job from EBay thinking it would do us for our first few trips but I now know I was painfully mistaken.

We are a family of two adults, a one year old and a three year old.

This will be our first camping trip so as much as I want something that's going to have enough space and keep us warm and dry we really can't afford to spend a lot of money for us to possibly hate it.

I can probably manage £100 for the first tent, not much I know bit do we have any chance of getting something that's good enough just to give us a chance at it in that budget? I'm absolutely not averse to buying used.

Needs to be a one bedroom tent as the girls are so young - they'll be on SIMs and we will be on a double air bed.

If we go and we love it I have no qualms about saving for something fantastic but to begin with it really will just be weekends/days here and there and we will be out and about a lot.

Thanks in advance - I know there's recommendations on the site and previous threads but sometimes you just need a proper conversation.

I think your tent is a bit too small and you should stick it right back on ebay. Then, on ebay, look out for something more suitable. Say, a six man tunnel tent. It should have a sewn in groundsheet - don't worry too much about brand except avoid Skandika. Look out for good deals from retailers too.

Yea it's going to be far to small :(
I have messaged the seller and appealed to their better nature to refund me if they've not posted yet but we will see, worst comes to the worst I've lost £50.

Ok, you've simplified that beautifully for me, thanks.

Can't help find a new tent for under £100 but second hand there are lots of places to buy 'free adverts' here, preloved, gumtree, Friday-ad and some people will be selling bundles for maybe a little over your budget but include a few items which make it worth paying extra for such as this bundle for example (nothing to do with me).
