We are looking to replace our royal pescara 8zg - it has been brilliant, but is sadly not going to make another summer. Happy to downsize a little as it would be lovely to have something a little quicker to put up and smaller to fit in the boot.
We have had a good look round, but haven't yet found something that fits what we're looking for. Can anyone share their likes dislikes of a tent with the following criteria (ideally, I know we'll have to compromise!)
- 3 (or 4) sleeping compartments 2 adults, 2 kids,
- about 2 metres tall in majority of living space
- room for 4 to sit comfortably inside and eat / play if wet
- porch extension / attachment if possible
- not so big we have to pay extra on some campsites
- not so heavy that I can't lift it in and out of the boot on my own!
Always quite impressed with outwell and vango, but some of the new hi gear ones look nicely designed in the pictures. Are they as good quality? And found a review of obelink, which look great, but never seen one up and haven't found one that matches what we're after.
All ideas and suggestions gratefully received,
Many thanks.

Look at the Vango Oravo XL from Cross Camping, which is being sold in a bundle and is going to be one of this years best sellers by the looks of things
We have pre-ordered the Kampa Hayling 6 Air. Fantastic spec for the price (£650)
The bedrooms are 2 rooms big enough for 3 in each. As we are also a family of 4, the 2 little ladies and myself and the wife get rooms that are big enough to get airbeds and a bag or two in. We wanted a tent that we could grow into and certainly think this will do the job.
Very big living space and a large porch area for cooking which can also have a front added to it, to enclose it.
The fabric is 150 denier which according to the people in the know is very tough compared to vangos 75.
Check it out before you decide on anything.

we`re a vango family! we need a new tent too as our old vango (i forget its name, but its so old its discontinued!) is on its last legs. vango`s seem to last well for us and easy to put up.
Thank you very much everyone for your suggestions. I particularly like the Vango Orava as it has 3 bedrooms - our son and daughter would prefer some privacy if we can find the right tent. Any other 3 bed (or more) family tent recommendations would be great, just to have something to compare the Orava with. If not, it makes shopping easy!
Many thanks,

I agree that the vango orava 600xl is a really good choice. Nice touches like the storage pockets and zip up windows. The only other thing I would look at would be the similar spec and layout tents that are airbeam as pitching would be quicker and easier. Does double the cost though.

Vango have it cornered this year with the 3 bedroom tent. I don't think you'll find anything like it and it's priced to sell - and I predict it or a renamed Vango version of it will be more expensive next year.
