We bought our Montana 6 in 2011, the year that they brought out the 6P.
We've used it a few times and have now got fed up with cleaning off the groundsheet after use and are thinking about buying a footprint - except I can't find one.

We've never had a footprint for a tent, this is our first SIG and so don't know anything about them. Is it worth us buying the current Montana footprint and customising it?

If all you want a footprint for is to keep the SIG clean, then maybe just use disposable plastic decorators' dustsheets?

I use a footprint to help protect the SIG from puncture (and a disposable dustsheet to keep the footprint clean).

I've only ever bought model-specific footprints if they came as part of the package when new. If like you I was buying one at a later date I would buy a decent quality groundsheet (ie not the tent-makers version) and cut it to size.

We use a double layer of blue builders tarp, we just fold it to size. We keep meaning to clip it and then make it the right size on a more permanent basis but no problem really.

Cost us about £14 on ebay.
