Just wanted to ask whether anyone has bought the 'Outwell Sun Valley 8' yet, only we were quite interested in the 'Montana 6' untill we read the threads on broken poles etc and that put us off a bit so we went back and had another look at the other tent we were interested in and that was the 'Vango Aspen 700' but got side tracked then while we were looking we saw the 'Sun Valley 8' and thought it was a great tent and slightly cheaper at £349.00 and wanted to know if anyone has bought one and whether there is a 'pole' problem like the 'Montana' or any other problems before parting with £349. We have read up on all the detail but being the same make as the Montana and quite a big tent was wondering about 'those poles' !!!
Would like some feed back if poss, this was the first place I thought of to ask for advice as I think it's a great site.
Thanks everyone.

Hi folks. Just a note about poles. I find the main reason they snap is because they get a lot of pressure on them when lifting tent up into shape ie forming the Dome. You need an few pairs of hands at this point and someone inside to hold the middle up thus taking the pressure off the poles. Is this whats putting you off that particular tent? Someone who has one will come and put you straight.

I looked at he Sun Valley 8 last week at CCC, and it looks like a fantastic tent with a lot of well thought out features which combine the best of several models. The poles are the fibreglass "Durawrap" type, which means they have an extra layer of tightly woven threads wrapping around them which gives greater strength than ordinary fibreglass poles. The Montana poles are all metal, so its different materials and technology, so its not possible to draw any conclusions about the quality of Sun Valley poles from the threads on here about Montana poles. Outwell are a good make, and appear to be responsive to problems reported.
I'd be inclined to go for it, cos it looks like a great tent - but you may want to hang on until someone comes along who actually owns one.
Thanks to both of you for your reply, to be honest I did see someone's message somewhere on here saying they had a 'Sun Valley 6' and they thought it was great but it was in answer to someone's problems about something else, but was just wondering if anyone else had any sorts of problems with one before we bought one, yes it does seem a great tent and will probably go for that, and now you have explained about the poles they do seem more stronger I suppose.
We are newbees at this so have been reading up on every sort of thread that has been posted as it is a very informative and friendly site.
We bought a smaller 'Peakland Pevril' last summer at the end of it all in a rush to go camping with my son and his family and everything was bought in a hurry, we found it ok but a few things we need like a larger cooker etc but the small tent and small cooker won't waste as we could use them for weekend jobs, but to stay a week we would like a larger tent and having a small dog who likes to run around I think the 'Sun Valley 8' will suit us just fine.
Thanks for your replies and before I go what does 'sig' mean as I have seen it on here mentioned a few times in messages ~ like I say we are still getting used to all the terminology so not sure what 'sig' means ~ you will have to get a little table to refer to all the short forms of words for newbees to refer too ~ it's hard being dull haha !!!
