I have recently bought a second hand but seemingly unused fly sheet for my force ten mk3. We have had it up in the garden a few times and last week it started to rain. I was quite pleased as I wanted it to be put to the test. The rain was rather enthusiastic. Most of the tent was great but water came through the fly via the tie back strings on the seams, dripped onto the inner and puddles on each side. We also had a damp patch at the back bottom back but that was either my error in putting it up or that the grass in our back garden is too long.

What can I do about the tie backs, I would like to use this tent (admittedly more as a nostalgia trip and a sort of tribute to my dad who I inherited it from). I have read so many testimonials as to how great they are that I don't want to relegate it to a back garden tent! Oh and I'll cut the grass next time!

Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes

New! Please upload a photo of your tent to the Tent Showcase!

Hi, the rain may wick through the stitching on the seams where the ties are attached. Apply a small amount of seam sealant ( a silicone product) to the area where the ties are stitched to the flysheet, when the tent is bone dry, and leave the tent up with the ties weighted so that the sealant does not stick to itself, and give it 24 hours to completely cute.

Thank you, will give it a try. I really love the tent (although my husband thinks I'm slightly insane!).
