I have a Quest 3-way camping fridge which is similar to those produced by dometic and electrolux, among others. It is only two years old but this year would not ignite on gas. I have found a workaround to the problem which I thought I would share, along with some other advice based on experience from the past!

If your camping fridge works on 240v / 12v but not on gas:

1) If it ignites but does not yet cold, it could be due to bubbles in the coolant. Turn it upside down and leave it for an hour, then gently turn it up the right way and try again.

2) If it does not ignite using the piezo ignition (either a push button or the big first click on the gas knob) first check there is gas in your bottle. Blow through the hose and the regulator to check for blockages.

3) If all is well, put your ear to the vent hole on top, turn the gas knob to on and press it in. Release it and press it in again. You should be able to hear the faint hiss of gas. Hold it in for 30 seconds to allow the gas through, then try the piezo ignition again.

4) If it still doesn't light, the piezo igniter has probably broken. On the back of the fridge at the bottom is a little window with a flame symbol by it. Underneath the fridge in the same location is a hole. You can light the fridge manually by inserting a lit match through the hole whilst keeping the gas button in the "max" position, and pushing it in. If the match blows out try again. Once the flame ignites, keep the button pushed in for 10 seconds to allow the thermal couple (which senses a flame-out and cuts the gas) to reach operating temperature. Then release the button and look trough the window on the back again to ensure the flame remains alight. Good luck!
