This is such a good forum to bounce ideas with people and after some searching and deliberation I found what I though to be a front awning that fitted my ageing, though not used, Oakland XL 2010 tent.
Having taken a small risk in that it might not fit, I went for a Montana 5P front awning, with similar dimensions and height. I am thrilled to report back that the fit is good! I set it all up in the garden today and with just a small gap to the side and the fabric lining up with the max height of the tent, over the troublesome flex pole I have found an ideal solution for our family trips.
Thank you to all who offered their opinions.
