I remember noticing and commenting on the cotton/polyester ratio at the time as it was unusual. I was interested in the Newgate 3 or 4 but left it too late to get one. Hope you enjoy yours!
Hi Sarah
Read through your old post and replies regarding the 35% 65% or 65% 35%. caper. I am still waiting on a response from Outwell. I have not even had a chance to erect my tent yet due to the weather, it came with a footprint but no carpet, I have looked online to try and get one but all I see is OUT OFF STOCK or NO LONGER AVAILABLE, same for the actual tents, this makes me wonder is there something wrong with the tents and considering the price people have payed for them, I think at the very least Outwell should explain why both tents and accessories are no longer available, after all. you can still buy spares for 20+ year old Cabanon tents
Some of their designs have come and gone in a season or two while others are produced year after year. I'm sure yours will be just fine but I wonder why they didn't continue with it.
I have still not had a reply from Outwell so I sent them a second email. I mentioned that I was a member of UKcampsite and that other Outwell tent owners would also like to know why the fabric mix was changed and why the tents and accessories for this range has ceased production. I also mentioned that if no reply was forth coming I would never again purchase an Outwell product.

Will be interesting to see what Outwell say, but from our first few goes in our Kensington, I can say we are really satisfied and hope to have finally found a replacement for our Outwell Hartford xxl (now that would be a tent I would love to see them resurrect).
OK, Outwell have replied to my questions with the following email from
Outwell helpdesk
We make new designs and innovations every year, to make room for these we naturally have to discontinue other tents. The mix has not physically changed, but is a result of human error when typing the mix used in the Newgate 5.
The mix of materials on our Outtex Airtech has always been as currently stated on our site, Outtex Airtech (65% COTTON 35% POLYESTER ) We hope this this can help clarify and wish you a nice day.
So, if I am reading this correctly, all Newgate model tents ( both Brown and green coloured ) are 65% cotton and 35% polyester. I am happy to here this but I think Outwell should have put out a statement clarifying this error, They did not answer some of my questions directly,
such as why accessories for the tents are not available
( I need a tent carpet for mine )
As you can see from there reply, they have avoided giving any kind of detailed reply, So,I would imagine that any Outwell range of Polycotton tents labelled Outtex Airtech
is going to have a 65% COTTON 35% POLYESTER fabric mix.
Just as I thought as said in a previous post on here somwhere then.
I did not have hunk there was an difference when comparing our newgate to a bear lake 6, there was no noticble difference.
At least outwell has had the decency to email you back.
Im on quite good rearms with outwell they twitter, and only just thought about asking the, the same question, no need to know as we have answeres to the questions!!
