Hello fellow campers
Need more help please !!
On setting up my tent the other day one of the fibreglass poles shattered (End pole nearest pin)
Luckily I had a spare porch pole which I used to bandage the shattered pole temporarily though now looking for the best advice as what to do next!
1. Should I get brand new Fibreglass section(9.5x4.82mtrs) ?
2. Should I purchase spares which are a mix of all my tent pole sections?
3. Are steel or aluminium poles a better more firmer option?
4.Is it maybees best to buy replacement steel or aluminium pole sections for the end of the poles to give a more resistant finish to the tent?
Tent is an Urban Escape 4man from Halfords
Please help as I'm worried about cost, efficiency etc etc as next camping trip is end of next week?
Thanks everyone
Sean

I'd go for just replacing the broken section. If you pull it away from the intact sections and clamp the cord to stop it springing back, you should hopefully be able to pull out the knot at the end of the damaged section (needle-nosed pliers might be useful) and untie or cut if off, leaving enough cord to thread (using a length of wire, possibly) through the new section, obtained from your local camping shop or somewhere like Tent Spares, before re-tying.

I don't think alumiuium or steel would be a viable replacement option on any tent designed to use flexible poles, tbh.

When we had fibreglass poles they lasted ages and then about 5 all broke, one after the other.

Was so pleased that Mr Frazzle bought a set of them - do check the size. It came with the new elastic and threading needle (as Bob says). Mr F sorted it all out. But of course it was a broken one from each set.

Do check you tube for help too.

Thanks for handy advice frazzle.
I've got a Mrs Stripes14 who is my boss who asks me to seek advice for these particular queries. 😉
