We've got a Vango Eden 600 which does the same in high winds. It's made worse if you've got either door open as that takes away some of the structural integrity. Also having the canopy rolled up adds more weight to the front beam and guying out too tightly can cause the beams to crumple. I only ever guy out the side that the wind is coming from to stop the side of the tent from being pushed in and knocking stuff off the table. If the wind is coming from the rear then the back beam sometimes collapses, again made worse if a door is open.
I've got round it now though by making up some supports from washing line props and short pieces of guttering about 6 inches in length. The guttering is attached with bolts that are just a loose fit into the end for ease of taking apart. I've also lined the guttering with some foam pads that I bought on eBay to protect the beams. I usually put one at the front and one in front of the bedroom and once the wind has eased I take them down. I know it detracts from the ease of having an air beam tent but I would never go back to poles.
HI JOHN,SORRY TO HEAR YOU HAD SIMILAR TROUBLE WITH AN AIR BEAM ,I WAS ON THE OUTER HEBRIDES IN JULY, GUARANTEED A STRONG WIND, THE WIND WAS MOSTLY SIDE ON , THE TENT COPED OK,ALONG WITH THE RAIN,IN GLENCOE I WAS AT THE POINT OF NEARLY CUTTING AWAY THE SUN CANOPY, AS THE TENT WAS RECENTLY BOUGHT AND UNDER THE STANDARD 2 YEAR GUARANTEE AND EXTENDED WARRANTY,I THOUGHT BETTER NOT.SEEMS LIKE IF YOU HAVE AN AIRBEAM TENT AND HIGH WINDS ARE FORECAST BEST PITCH BY THE LOCAL DIY STORE,VANGO STATED VIA THE SUPPLIER
THE PUMP MAY HAVE BEEN FAULTY,HIGHER GUY LINE POINTS AND A BETTER WAY OF STOWING THE SUN CANOPY,SO IT WILL NOT ACT AS AN AIR BRAKE AND COLLAPSE THE BEAMS, THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY, VERY INFORMATIVE,HATE THIS TO HAPPEN TO A FAMILY JUST STARTING THEIR HOLIDAY.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
