Hello everyone, first post here of many I hope.
Can't decide between the Airgo Solus Horizon 4 and the Airgo Stratus 400. Which is the better one ?
For who?
One man and his dog?
Mum, Dad, 3 kids and a rottweiler?
Weekender or full on holiday?
New camper(s) or old hand(s)?
"Better", just doesn't compute, without some details.
I am a solo camper with a Coleman Instant 5 at present. I camp weekends and a week or more at a time. I like fresh air which the Coleman can’t do although it is a great tent for the price of it.

We have the Horizon 4, bought it last year so we could do more short breaks as our main tent is a bit of a monster! It's a lovely little tent, goes up in 5 mins and was very sturdy.
When we used it for the first time we found we could have done with a bit more space and were quite disappointed that they didn't do a porch, just for days when we might have to spend some time inside. Also, when using the front door, which slopes, the rain came in when we opened the door. Anyway, this year whilst in Winfields we came across a Vango Keswick porch which we decided could fit quite well on our new baby tent, and if not, we could use it on the monster! Well, all turned out good and we've used it on both tents this year.
This is was our first trip with the Horizon 4, no porch and using the front door as our main entry point.
The next two are from this year with the addition of the Vango porch and using the side entrance - gave us much more room and enabled us to set up our kitchen in there.
The stratus is 150 denier fabric, and goes up In one. It's also very well specced with just about everything you need on a tent. Mesh to all 3 doors, 2 doors can use king poles, mesh to bedroom doors, I had the airgo cirrus 400 and it was a decent sized tent.
The horizon has separate beams, is a physically smaller 4 berth and less of the creature comforts on the stratus.

Wow, that’s fantastic and thank you for sharing that. How does the porch attach to the tent ? Is there a model number for it ?
Thanks again.
The back of the porch passes over the top of the tent and is pegged down at the back. This is the link to Winfields but pretty sure it's available elsewhere.
Thank you TracyD, you are very helpful. I notice many reviews complaining about leaks on the Stratus so the Horizon with the porch is what I will go with. Thanks all.

Stumbled on this thread looking for an awning for the Horizon 4, so thanks for the information about the Vango Keswick!
However I just wanted to warn any future readers that they’ve changed the width of the awning for 2019 which likely makes it far too big to put on the side.
Vango do another one the same size as the old one only available at Millets/Blacks called the Iris poled side awning.

I’ve ordered one, so hopefully it’ll be fine!
Did you try out the new size? Looking to get one myself
Thanks
