Hi all,
New here so please be gentle :)
Myself the missis and 2 kids started camping last year and we bought a eurohike rydal 500. We do a few weekends a year and 1 week all uk (currently)
However we soon realised that this tent just isn't big enough for us, very cramped for 4 on a rainy evening.
So we now have saved up are looking for something bigger.
We've come across the vango orava 600xl and the vango madison 600xl. Both have pros and cons but which is the better tent or is there something else of similar size we should be considering? (in this price range, £600 max)
We've seen the orava up and it's big, we know the madison is smaller but is it still a big tent?
Any help, advice, very much appreciated.

Cheers
Andy 👍

I would say they're both big. Personally I prefer the look of the Madison. Spec-wise there's very little difference betweeen them. The Orava has bigger bedrooms which is worth thinking about if you want to use bulky airbeds or camp beds, if you're just using Sims either would be fine.

Thanks for replying.
Are these tents worth the money? Likely to last 2/3 years?
We look after all our things so our tent would be no different. In total I would say we camp for 3 week maximum (long weekends mainly) all in the uk
We'd probably already have bought a tent but I'm concerned about it last us a bit of time (not expecting to have this tent in 10 years)

If you're camping in the UK they should easily last you four or five years at that level of use, probably longer in my experience.

And you'll probably have changed your mind on what your optimal tent is before then anyway.

I don't often post but often lurk... I would say it depends on the age of your children. If they one or both are quite young and you intend to use the bedrooms as one big room, the madison would be ok. But if you want them to have a room each, leaving one for you and your wife to share, the bedrooms in the madison are a bit small at 120 cm wide - all but the most basic single sims seem to be around 60 cm wide which is a really tight fit. (And bear in mind that the standard width for a double bed is 140 cm.) Assuming you already have something to sleep on it would be worth checking widths so you don't have to replace that too.

Thanks VCM
Kids are 5 and 8.
Likely the 8byear old will want her own space in the next couple of years. We ready seperate our rooms in the current tent we have (ie) kids on one side and us on the other with a divider in the middle
Sounds like the madison would be to small in the bedroom department
Kids have bed frames and we have a double sim.
I've spoken to a local Camping shop and the guy I spoke to thinks the Orava is avaibale this year in the dura fabric, if that's the case then we'll likely go for it dependent on price
