Hi all, I'm new here and did search so if this has been asked before my apologies but I couldn't find an answer. Anyway, myself and partner plan on camping this summer and have recognised that we may well become serial campers (lol) so we'd like one that's durable... Anyway we went once before with a cheap Halford special and it was OK until it rained. We're not after anything flashy, we just want a cheap and chearful tent we can use a few times a year that will keep us dry and warm should it decide to bucket it down, which it did on our 1st time lol. We have a little shi tzu that'll be coming as well. Anyway, as the title suggests I'm trying to decide between the Coleman black out, darwin or kobuk (3 person). The Blackout and darwin look to be the same tent albeit in different colours, except the former is a little more money. If you had to choose between them which one would be your choice please. Any pros and cons and words of experience (pertaining to the tents or even camping with tents as a whole) would be grately appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Regards

Personally I wouldn't want to be in a tent that small with a dog! Apart from that though, I have a Coleman black out tent (oak canyon) and I wouldn't go back to a tent without the black out bedroom, it definitely makes a difference in my ability to sleep.

Nor me!
Presumably you'll be taking table and chairs? Something to cook on? Some food and plates and mugs? I'd suggest a tent with a living area as well as a bedroom, otherwise you'll have to put your stuff away in the car every night, every time you go out and whenever it's windy or raining. And nobody on a campsite appreciates the constant opening and closing of car doors.
If you get rubbish weather, you'll appreciate having somewhere dry to sit.
Another consideration is what to do with your dog when you go for a shower. A crate in the living area of the tent will keep her safe for that short time and is also useful when she gets wet or muddy. Our dog doesn't sleep in a crate at home but always has her bed in there when camping and doesn't seem to mind a bit (in a tent, they can still hear and smell you on the other side of a piece of inner-tent fabric).
In short, the tents you've mentioned are bedrooms only. Ask yourself if that will be sufficient for your holiday needs with a dog.
