Holiday is booked on Isle of Wight in a month's time. I now need a tent! I have 2 adult-sized teenagers and a tiny 3 year old, plus a husband. We have a Ford-Cmax, which isn't overly generous in the boot department, plus a large roofbox. We're looking for a 6 man tent that packs down small enough to also take other camping gear such as chairs, oven etc.
We're taking one small tent for one of the teens. But we would like the main tent to have a good-sized living area we could all comfortably relax in if the weather turns bad. Plus a porch for all the mud, shoes and paraphernalia. Oh, and bedroom dividers that are 'proper' zipped ones, not just flimsy impersonations of dividers.
We're currently looking at a secondhand Vango Marna 600xl, which seems to tick all the boxes, except the bedroom dividers (but I'm probably being too fussy there).
Any other ideas, you wonderful tent experts? I await your wise responses....

Without doubt the Hoolie 6 gives fantastic weight/size ratio, I hope to get one someday, but it may not offer the living space you seek.
Looking at the pack dimensions of the tent you mentioned there are many that fit within that size including the Icarus 600 DLX. If you can get a chance to visit an outdoor shop you'll get a better sense of what space the packed tent will take up in the car boot. Other options around that pack size include the Oldpro Wichenford and easycamp Huntsville 800 so maybe see if their layouts would work for your family too. Hope you have a great holiday whatever you decide.
From having a quick look at the Outwell Montana it has steel poles so overall pack size will be considerably greater though arguably a better stronger tent. A trip to the shop is the way to go, to really see the size of packed tents, some are surprisingly large. Remember the car also has to hold table, chairs, cool box, bedding, kitchen/cooking equipment etc etc. Enjoy the search

ah, that's a good point, but a shame as I've seen a great deal. But yes, we need a lot more equipment in the boot too. I really appreciate all this advice, need it cos I'm going mental with decision-making!
